John Ortberg once said:
“Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is to take a nap.”
I’ll amend that this week – for personal application – to say that sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is to take a walk.
Or two.
Add some running along the way.
Remember that you love to run.
Remember that you can always go a little farther than you think you can.
Choose a place to walk and run that is jaw-droppingly beautiful. Look for water.
Stop and smell the flowers.
You will find rest for your soul.
John Muir says “Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”
Whether standing on top of a mountain, or looking at the vast sea, or a wide open field, or the tree that hover over me or the creatures crawl under the rocks, it’s then in His creation that my spirit finds rest, is washed clean and rejuvenated. Thanks for this reminder.
