Tomorrow begins a bona fide series of guest posts from some folks I love and respect. You’re going to hear some interesting stories from some fascinating people, all of whom have been powerfully impacted by music. Each one will share about specific records that shaped them in some way.
There are a few surprises.
I jumped the gun with Jimmy’s post – you can re-read that here – and I wrote about an old John Denver record here. Keep an eye out for new posts this week (did you know you can subscribe and get these posts in your inbox? Check out the link on the sidebar – it’s easy!)
In the meantime, here’s a hint at another of my own records of influence. If you’ve ever heard me play piano, this is where it all started (not counting the 10,000 hours of scales, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and Chopin). Between Billy Joel, Barry Manilow (sorry, but it’s true!), and Elton John, I had all the instruction I needed. My style was shaped very powerfully by this record.
